How to get rid of trapped gas in GIT

There are ways to get rid of the gas pain in the abdomen.

  1. The best way is to let it out.
  2. Sometimes bowel movement, passing the stool may relieve the pain.
  3. Eating slowly will help and there will be less gas formation.
    1. Chew the food 30 times to slow down your speed.
  4. Avoid chewing gum because you will swallow gas.
    1. Sweetener also causes bloating and gas.
  5. Don’t use straw because more gas goes in, Better to sip water or drinks.
  6. Stop smoking. This allows air to enter the GI system.
  7. Avoid foods which may cause bloating and gas like:
    1. Artificial sweetener.
    2. Vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower.
    3. Dairy products.
    4. Fiber drinks and supplements.
    5. Fried foods.
    6. High-fat foods.
    7. Garlic and onions.
    8. Spicy foods.
    9. Prunes and prune juice.
  8. Do not take carbonated drinks.
  9. Drink tea particularly green tea or herbal tea  ( anise, chamomile, ginger, and peppermint) may help in digestion.
  10. Taking fennel helps for the trapped gas.
  11. Peppermint supplement of its tea relieves bloating and gas formation. 
    1. Avoid during pregnancy due to conflicting reports.
  12. Clove oil is used to relieve the bloating, gas and indigestion.
  13. A hot water bottle may relieve the gas and the pain abdomen.
  14. Vinegar, one teaspoon in the glass of water relieves the gas and the pain.
  15. Use activated charcoal which is a natural product.  It prevents the trapped gas.
  16. Probiotics supplement add beneficial bacteria to the intestine.
  17. The best way is the exercise. Yoga is the best, after the meal may be beneficial.
  18. Over the counter, remedies may be helpful like Mylanta, Gas-X, and gaviscon.
