Chemistry profile For Various Diseases

Sample

  1. Collect blood after 8 to 12 hours of fast.
  2. These tests are done on the serum.
  3. Get good serum: Take 3 to 5 ml of blood in the disposable syringe or vacutainer. Keep the syringe for 15 to 30 minutes and then centrifuge for 2 to 4 minutes to get the clear serum.

Indications for Chemistry profile For Various Diseases

  1. This battery of the tests is done as a routine workup of a person.
  2. These tests rule out any pathology, e.g., the liver, kidneys, and other biochemical abnormalities like fat metabolism or carbohydrate metabolism, etc.

 Chemistry profile of various organs:

Liver disease markers for liver cell injury or congenital liver disease:

  1. Total Bilirubin.
  2. Alkaline phosphatase.
  3. SGOT and SGPT.
  4. Total protein.
  5. Albumin.
  6. A / G ratio.
  7. Gamma GT.
  8. Viral hepatitis markers.
  9. LDH

Cardiac markers for Myocardial infarction or angina:

  1. CK-MB
  2. Troponin-T
  3. Lipids
    1. Cholesterol.
    2. Triglycerides.
    3. HDL.
    4. LDL.

Kidney Function Panel for kidney diseases:

  1. Urea (Blood urea nitrogen)
  2. Creatinine
  3. Electrolytes

Electrolyte panel for the status of the hydration of the body:

  1. Sodium.
  2. Potassium.
  3. Chloride.
  4. CO2.
  5. pH.

Thyroid function for hypo or hyperthyroidism:

  1. T 3.
  2. T 4.
  3. TSH.
  4. Free T 4.

Hematological workup for anemia, infections, or leukemias:

  1. CBC like TLC, DLC, Hb, and ESR.
  2. Platelets count.
