Diverticula and Diverticulitis

Author personnel experience.

The diverticula are common after the age of 40 years.

Its incidence increases with increasing age.

Presentation in the author:

I had body aches and pains.

There was a low-grade fever.

There was shivering off and on.

When there is gas in the intestine that was causing pain unless passed away.

There was no vomiting or nausea.

The diagnosis was confirmed on the CT abdomen with contrast.

Importance 

These signs and symptoms are vague and one can miss the diagnosis.

On the basis of low-grade fever, some may give him antibiotics and his symptoms will subside for time being.

The diagnosis can only be confirmed by the CT abdomen.
