  • One apple a day keeps the doctor away.
  • This is true that Apple has long been considered a symbol of good health and vitality.
  • It is true that apple benefits are:
    1. Prevent constipation.
    2. It controls diabetes.
    3. It may prevent cancer.
    4. It reduces the risk of heart disease.
  • Apples can be used as a snack and it is easy to carry with you.  Just clean and keep in your carrying bags.
  • Facts about the Apple
    • Most of the healing power lies in the apple is in the skin.
    • The skin contains about 4 mg of a compound called quercetin.
      • This an oxidant like vitamin C and beta-carotene.
      • This is an oxidant molecule and helps to prevent the harmful oxygen molecule from the damaging cells.
      • This also prevents changes in the cells which can lead to cancer.
      • This was found in one of the studies that people who have quercetin in their diet have a 20% lower risk of heart disease.
      • In another study, it was found that eating an apple a day along with onions and 4 cup of tea has 30% less risk for the heart disease.
      • This compound is also preventive for cancer.
        • It can prevent spreading of the cancer cells.
        • It also inhibits the growth of tumor cells.
        • Quercetin also prevents the mutation of the cancer cells.
    • Fibers 
      • Apples are considered the best source of the fibers.
      • Apples contain both soluble and insoluble fibers.
      • 5 ounce of the apple with skin has around 3 grams of the fibers.
        • Insoluble fibers found in the skin, form the roughage which relieves constipation.
          • This will smooth the stool and prevent diverticulosis.
          • Insoluble fibers have a filling effect is excellent weight-control food to lose weight.
        • Soluble fibers form a gel-like material in the digestive tract that helps lower the cholesterol and heart disease risk.
      • There is another soluble fiber called Pectin. This also lowers cholesterol and give double protection for heart disease.
        • Pectin also lowers the blood glucose level.
        • The average size of the apple contains 0.7 grams of pectin, more than the amount in bananas and strawberries.
