Nishtarian alumni of North america ( NANA) Retreat meeting in Chicago ,May 4, 2013

There was meeting and get together of Nishtarian Alumni of North America (NANA ) on May 4,2013.
The meeting was organized in Chicago by Dr Safdar Ali and he really did wonderful job.

The morning business meeting was organized by Dr.Haroon Durrani and started at 9.30 am in the chicago hall of palmer house Hilton.

In this meeting various issue were discussed but the main topic was Scholarship for the needy students of Nishtar Medical college Multan pakistan.

One of the Nishtarian has given offer of dollar to dollar match up to million dollars.This is decided that nishtarian will collect $ 500,000 and equal amount will be given by that generous doctor.His name is not disclosed.
After this meeting there were three lectures for the CME
First lecture was given by the Prof.Shabir Safdar.He discussed the importance of Lung cancer diagnosed in stage 1.If the lung cancer is diagnosed in the stage 1 , that can be cured by surgery.also he advised to control the smoking which is the main cause.
The second lecture was for Hepatitis C viral infection.Various aspect of this spreading viral disease was discussed.Also this was stated that Viral hepatitis C incidence may increase than HIV in the USA.This is alarming situation and needs prophylactic measures .The main source may be drug addicts and sexual contacts.

Third lecture was On the topic of MRI safe pacemakers.
Then there was break for the Lunch and prayers.

Again there was colorful gathering started at 6.30 PM.In the begining all delegates and their families were served with samosa, shrimp and chiken tikka.
This was really wonderful to see the ladies in the traditional colorful dresses of Pakistan.The children were also wearing colorful dresses .
The unforgettable evening started with the recitation of Quran pak.Then again Dr Imran Ata and the host in Chicago Doctors welcome to all the guests.

All committees head presented their progress for the benefit of community and Nishtar medical college their .
Again scholarship issue was highlighted. Dr Mazhar gave the presentation followed by the Dr.Riaz bhutta to assure the donors that selection criteria.Also Dr Riaz Bhutta tried to prove that they do their best to give scholarship to the really needed students.
Immediately Dr Riaz Imami gave the check of $10,000.Also there was commitment by other doctors for $5000 each.
Lastly there was speech by consulate general of Pakistan.He said one thing which was really encouraging that Insha allah Pakistan situation will improve.

Dr haroon durrani gave the details of future projects for the Nishtar medical college,Also he gave the details of accomplished projects like ACL lab, Neonatal nursery and completion of ICU building.

This speech session ultimately reached to end and call for dinner was given.
After the dinner Tahseen javed amused the audience by his beautiful songs.This musical session continued late night and ultimately the meeting came to end.
